Nobles of Landmark College, Ikorodu embarked on an educational excursion to the Nigerian Railway Corporation at Ebute Metta Railway Station, where learning came alive beyond the classroom.
The visit provided a rich blend of Social Studies, Geography, and Civic Education as students experienced firsthand the scale and coordination of Nigeria’s rail transport system. They observed train operations, the roles of engineers and logistics officers, and the efficient movement of passengers and goods—gaining valuable insight into infrastructure management and Public Jo service.
A major highlight was the “Rail to Sea” Enlightenment Programme, which introduced students to the concept of the Blue Economy. They learned how rail transport connects inland regions to seaports, enabling smooth movement of goods while reducing road congestion and environmental impact.
The excursion broadened their understanding of integrated logistics, environmental sustainability, and emerging career opportunities in fields such as marine engineering, logistics, and port management. It also reinforced the importance of protecting national assets like railways and waterways.

At the end of the programme, four students—Abdulazeez Rodiyat, Adelakun Aamal, Adekunle Oreoluwa, and Ibikunle Omowonuola—were recognized as Ambassadors of the Blue Economy.
Overall, the excursion was an enlightening and impactful experience, equipping students with knowledge relevant to Nigeria’s industrial and economic future.
